Relationships and Economics

What is it about someone in a relationship that makes them seem more appealing than they were when they were SINGLE?

Its a funny concept because I've seen this happen so many times.... Jack didn't like Jill when she was single but now that she's with Billy, Jack is feeling some type of way and thinks he might even like her...WTH??

The way I look at it- its simple economics: Nothing has value unless people are buying the product which then increases its net worth. It seems so cruel and insensitive but it happens and I can attest that I have changed my perception of someone once they were suddenly "off the market"... but this was only a temporary lapse of judgment :)

I guess this goes without saying, "Your nobody until somebody loves you" <-- The Supremes But is it true?!?!

Tim Bruton & William Kenthridge exhibits

CHECK OUT

"This exhibition explores the full range of his creative work, tracing the current of his visual imagination from early childhood drawings through his mature work in film. It brings together over seven hundred examples of rarely or never-before-seen drawings, paintings, photographs, moving image works, concept art, storyboards, puppets, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera from such films as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Mars Attacks!, Ed Wood, and Beetlejuice, and from unrealized and little-known personal projects that reveal his talent as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer working in the spirit of Pop Surrealism. " ~~MoMA (info)

If you get a chance, check out the William Kenthridge exhibit--is sold out this weekend but it runs 'til May 17th

"This large-scale exhibition surveys nearly three decades of work by William Kentridge (b. 1955, South Africa), a remarkably versatile artist whose work combines the political with the poetic. Dealing with subjects as sobering as apartheid, colonialism, and totalitarianism, his work is often imbued with dreamy, lyrical undertones or comedic bits of self-deprecation that render his powerful messages both alluring and ambivalent." ~~MoMA (more info)

EPIC: "Telephone" Lady Gaga & Beyonce

Review:
SOOoo for like WEEKS now everyone has been talking about this Lady Gaga video like it was the second coming. I was really expecting to see Jesus in this video yall...but it was no less AMAZING...

It was visually and aesthetically pleasing (of course).. its GAGA and Beyonce...

there was so much going on in this video....there was GAGA flashing her goodies, some girl on girl action, a fight, GAGA takin' a bite out of Bey's honey bun---mmmhmm--- Tyrese made a cameo

Nonetheless Bey and Gaga did their thing and they looked dope...

However, there's been mixed reviews about the video like how the song had nothing to do with the video but its Gaga and with Gaga you cant have expectations because this chick WANTS you to be scratching your head at the end and in awe at the same time and I think she accomplished that...
How u dewin!?

Giving but not RECEIVING

I'm sure most have experienced this but it irks me when people who are supposed to be your most trusted and loyal partners and they half ass the friendship. When I say half ass I'm merely referring to the fact that its uneven. I know I put in 130% when it comes to my friends but when the other is only giving back about 35% there's a problem.

Lately there's been one particular person who has continued to show me how callous they are. This said person is always coming to me for advice or to talk about he/she problems and ranting about their life and the minute you try to tell them about you they tune out completely or respond with a one word answer then turn the conversation back to them. I'm starting to feel like this persons therapist rather than their friend. Its sad because it wasn't like that in the beginning but lately and more frequently it's been all about them.
I could easily just cut them out of my life but that would be counter productive and I am still trying to situate the words so I can translate it better to this person..how should I go about this?

setting the mood

I see the light

There's nothing like reaching the most profound moment of clarity. Even in the darkest and dimmest of days there's always light even if it be a glimmer, it always there we're just not looking in the right direction. After weeks of muddled and confused thoughts of why my life was so entangled I have finally been able to look through a new lens of perspective and things are looking bright.

*relief*

Poem of the day:

I never knew there would be a better tomorrow
But you've come into my life and taken away all my
sorrow
My days of sadness are a thing of the past
Because I have found true love at last
My days of emptiness are gone for good
Because you fill a void in my heart that you should
You've opened a window You've shown me the light
And my love for you will continue to burn bright.
