OBAMA @ the UN 9/22/09

Aside from having to wade through the barricades of CIA, police officers, body guards, reporters, and UN police... working at the UN has been SWEET

This week has been the beginning of the General Assembly which will continue to about December.

In his speech he highlighted the new tone that would be brought to the U.S. foreign policy, stressing co-operation and consultation over the blatant unilateralism (one-sided ) of his predecessor, George W. Bush (Boo!!!) He also spoke about confronting global challenges and urged other countries "to live up to their responsibility to act as well."

He was such great orator. I love to hear him speak. There were a lot of famous faces in the audience and some of the people I work with got to take pics (unfortunately I wasn't able to). One day I WILL meet Obama.

Today, I missed Obama's speech but I caught Iran's Ahmadinejad which was extra long for no reason but it definitely wasn't boring... At one point he ripped the charter, similar antics can be seen by past speakers like Castro; I would love to see him speak.

With Mackenzie Phillips' new memoir, High On Arrival, out today, the former child actress of One Day At A Time dropped another bombshell on Oprah, airing later today, saying that she and her father, John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, once had a sexual relationship.

Mackenzie remembers the first time she found her father in bed with her, the night before her wedding to Jeff Sessler in 1979. Mackenzie was 19 years old.

"On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it. I had tons of pills, and Dad has tons of everything, too. Eventually I passed out on Dad's bed.

My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

Had this happened before? I didn't know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it."

After being fired from One Day At A Time in 1980 for her drug abuse, she went to rehab with her father and subsequently went on tour with him - at which point their sexual relationship became consensual!

"One night Dad said, 'We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.' He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we're going to hell for this."

Im sure everyone was tuning in on the VMA's when Taylor Swift was accepting her award and suddenly was rudely interrupted when Kanye West got on the stage.

This grown a** man had the nerve to get on stage , take Taylor's mic and diss her on national TV by ranting about how Beyonce should have won the award. how old are we now????!?!?!?! That was the stupidest thing he could have done. He always has some issue @ award shows (this isn't the first instance where he had a bitch fit). Poor Taylor was speechless and even though many would probably agree with kanye they know better to keep it to themselves.

On top of everthing he embarrasssed Beyonce ...

I dont know where he went after that but i'm sure officials took him out. I am glad he didnt win anything (karma) either.

Beyonce did have enough class though to share her acceptance with Taylor (that's what we call being an adult)....pure class. This is why I love B*!!!!

*side note: why did lil mama get on stage during Jay-z and Alciia Keys performance?!?!? ( did u see how Jay-z gave her the "wtf" look too)

Update: Semanya ...a hermaphrodite

Apparently, Semanya is a hermaphrodite>>> someone leaked the results of her latest gender test. According to the tests she was born with internal testicles so they aren't visible. Her exterior (physical) is all woman but she has no ovaries and three times the testosterone.

So sad! She's only 18 and she probably didn't know before hand and to have all her business shared nationally. SMH

I feel for her and as of recently she has dropped out of future races. How do they handle issues like this? Physically she's a woman and she associates herself as a woman (but yet she's not). So will they barr her from both male and female competitions?? What should be done??!!!

I see plenty of therapy in her future!

First Day of School

Today was the last first day of school I will ever have. (~tear~)

It was a long and grueling day. It didn't help that I only got four-to-five hours of sleep (I was restless). I had five classes back to back from 9:30 to 4:00...so crazy...I get only 15 minutes in between each class which is JUST enough time to get to your next class. I thought I wasn't going to make it but fortunately I have a lot of classes with my friends and I even met some new ones. It was good seeing old and new faces. Meeting new teachers is always interesting because you get a feel of how the semester is going to progress and I think all my professors are really chill and interesting.

I am not looking forward to paying for all these books. I'm about to hit up the local library and see what I can find because I am not paying hundreds of dollars this year>>>>I REFUSE>>>>its alll a marketing ploy for them (the school)>>>>They change the textbooks every year>>>>maybe changing one or two things just so you HAVE to buy their version and NYU has a habit of selling books you cant find anywhere else or one that a professor wrote. its really depressing how much money they scrounge from us; not to mention school supplies at our bookstore is crazy expensive (HELLO Staples). As a freshman I made the mistake of buying everything on campus...yes I was one of the naive ones. I didn't know about half.com or scanning books and then returning them (so ghetto but worth it). Now I just borrow from a friend or DL the book online ( i know how bad that sounds but its so necessary).

My schedule is crazy but I need to make it work. I have an internship and a job on the weekends and I am also trying to get a second job. Sounds like a lot right?!?! well I know it is but hey I need to grind and hustle this semester to get where I need to go. Plus, I like to keep myself busy.

Tomorrow's Labor Day and usually I wood mosey on down to BK to part take in the festivities but this year no one I know (not even the fam) is going 2 the parade...I think everyone is over it right now...we used to have our own float...dress up ..and the whole 9.... but now ....not soo much...I still might hit it up tomorrow but who knows?!?!
